Susan graduated from the British School of Shiatsu-Do in 2003, since when she has been building up her practice in West London. She obtained MRSS status in 2005 and is currently a trainee teacher, also regularly teaching the Friday night practise classes at the London BSS-Do. With a career background mainly in business and the media, Susan lived and worked for many years in the Netherlands, where she also qualified as a teacher of English within the Dutch education system. Later, Susan set up her own translation and editing company in the Netherlands. After moving back to London in 1997, Susan carried on with her translating and editing business, while Shiatsu began to take up more and more of her time and enthusiasm. She currently practices from home, as well as in and outside London, and also has clients in the Netherlands which she visits on a regular basis. Susan's areas of special interest include working with pregnancy, and clients who have stress or depression-related issues, structural misalignments, arthritis and joint pain and shoulder and back problems. Besides traditional Zen Shiatsu, during her treatments Susan applies a range of techniques from gentle cranio-sacral holds to Shizuko Yamamoto’s ‘Barefoot Shiatsu’ techniques, a more vigorous approach that includes treating with the feet. In February 2007, Susan qualified for Phase I Auricular Acupuncture, known for its powerful de-stressing, detoxifying impact and for effective pain relief. She now occasionally incorporates some auricular acupuncture with her Shiatsu treatments, at the client’s request. Both during her studies and after qualifying, Susan has followed a wide variety of courses and workshops, studying with teachers that include Wataru Ohashi, Sonia Moriceau, Shizuko Yamamoto and Patrick McCarty, Saul Goodman, Carola Beresford-Cooke and Michael Rose.Contact details: Tel: 020 8993 8601 |
