Head of Studies BSS Essex
Since moving to East Anglia 14 years ago, Gill has built a busy and successful private Shiatsu practice in Colchester and the surrounding area. She has been a shiatsu practitioner for 12 years.
Gill’s teaching approach is professional and relaxed with fun and humour as well as serious study playing important roles throughout the course. Originally a primary school music teacher, she became a BSS-Do teacher in 1996 and joined Elisabeth Redfearn, the original Principal, in founding the Essex branch in that year.
Gill has travelled throughout the Far East extensively. She studied and worked in Japan for over 2 years where she first became involved with Shiatsu. Gill’s international qualifications include the Shiatsu Short Course Certificate from the Namikoshi School, Kobe, Japan in 1990.
She has worked with Patrick McCarthy in 1989, an internationally known Macrobiotic teacher, as well as Master Ryokyu Endo Sensei whom she visited in Kyoto in 1990.
A main interest for Gill is Energetics of Food in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Gill’s extensive experience using Shiatsu covers work with Drug and Alcohol Support for 6 years and Eating Disorders Support for 4 years. She has regular contact with and gives training to Youth Support Workers for the Local Authority in her area.
