Doe Warnes

Doe has been practising a variety of therapeutic bodywork disciples since 1975 including aromatherapy, reflexology and holistic massage. In 1984 she qualified as a shiatsu practitioner at the British School of Shiatsu-Do and went on to complete a three years’ Post Graduate course with Pauline Sasaki and Cliff Andrews. Other teachers that have influenced her style of shiatsu are Saul Goodman, Ohashi and Ray Ridolfi.  Since 2001 Doe has taught shiatsu at the British School of Shiatsu-Do and the City Lit (Adult Education) in London and has recently become a ‘T’ teacher.

Her interest in movement has led her to qualify as a Dance/Movement Therapist and a teacher in ‘Exercise for the elderly and less abled’. Doe enjoys making anatomy and physiology interesting and relevant by incorporating experiential exercises and movement.  She has previously worked with dancers, bodyworkers, people with HIV+/AIDs and the elderly.

She currently works with the elderly who are vulnerable to falling and runs Healthy Living workshops for Age Concern Hackney as well as designing and teaching the ‘Anatomy for Clinical Practice’ module for Dance/Movement Therapy students at Roehampton Institute. She continues her study of the human body with curiosity and fascination.

Other related qualifications:
City and Guilds, Stage 1 – Certificate in Further and Adult Education, and is currently studying City and Guilds, Stage 2.
Member of the Shiatsu Society since 1987
Post graduate Diploma in Dance/Movement Therapy, Roehampton Institute.
Teacher in ‘EXTEND’ (movement to music for the elderly and less abled of all ages)
