Char’s Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine training started at the Community Health Foundation in London around 19 years ago. She graduated from the BSS London run by Ray Ridolfi and Susanne Franzen, followed by a postgraduate one year's training with Sonia Moriceau, Healing Shiatsu Education Centre.

Continuing to build and refine her Shiatsu practice, Char has worked with other Shiatsu teachers including Pauline Sasaki, Clifford Andrews, Saul Goodman, and Michael Rose.

Other teachers who have and continue to influence her and enrich her practice include Tatsuo Nakamura, her Seitai teacher, Kiiko Matsumoto an Internationally recognised Master of Japanese Acupuncture and Babette Rothschild a psychotherapist specialising in working with people who have experienced Trauma.
